Gina M. Drane, MEd, RDH
I graduated from Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) in 2004. I worked as a dental hygienist for eleven years in various private practice dental offices. I found my true passion in 2015 by starting to work as a dental hygienist at a federally qualified health center. The community health center I am currently working at provides medical, dental, behavioral health, midwifery, and other services for everyone, regardless of their ability to pay. We focus on treating patients with compassion, dignity and respect, while offering culturally sensitive services and community outreach.
After graduating from Tri-C, I received a bachelor's degree in Allied Health from Youngstown State University and a master's degree in education from Cleveland State University, specializing in Adult Learning and Development. I am currently beginning my third year as part-time adjunct faculty in the dental hygiene program at Tri-C. I love interacting with the dental hygiene students and when I am at the school, I feel like my career has really come full circle!
I was not involved with CDHA until I became an alternate delegate three years ago. I now serve as treasurer and delegate for the component. Being actively involved with CDHA has emphasized the importance of supporting our professional organization. I have learned so much about our profession and organization, on the national, state and local levels. Equally important are the friendships and relationships I have developed with my fellow hygienists as we work toward the common goal of advancing our profession.
